As highlighted in the image below, the majority of the high wealth areas are located to the south of Liverpool and Manchester, in Cheshire. The areas of Chester, Altrincham, Wilmslow and Macclesfield, in particular, have a disposable income per household that is 40% higher than the national average. The image also shows the ‘cooler’ areas of lower wealth which are situated in the major cities and typically just outside of the city centres.
